Evaluation

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

through this module i have learnt both the required software (after effects), and also ventured into learning other software (logic pro). after effects has been a very simple piece of software to get used to, moving images along paths was very useful for the style of animation i was going for. logic had a much steeper learning curve, and sadly i didn't get to use it to its full potential in my own project.

2. What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

it was useful to have this blog to upload videos to, focusing what i was looking at into one place, as opposed to being broekn up with non-digital media posts on my other blog.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

although i'm pleased with my final animation, from learning how to work with sound i would possibly like to collaborate with animators and designers in future digital media projects.
my final outcome was, in my opinion, quite amusing. i'd like to play and have fun with my work in the future, as i'd like to be designing things people would enjoy themselves.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?

i was very unfocused at the start of the brief, not feeling confident with my subject matter. in the future i will have to be more critical of what i research and consider how it could be applied to a brief.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

a. i will focus my ideas at the start of the brief, this will help me detect where i need to research deeper and give me a solid starting point.

b. i will work on a piece that showcases the skills i have learned in other software as i feel it helps to have a breadth of knowledge when working alone on briefs.

c. i will make more use of expert knowledge, the times when mike helped me along with ideas relating to sound and image really furthered my software skills.

d. i will plan my animation more effectively. i feel like, as per usual, i boxed myself into one idea too quickly and next time i need to work through all my ideas rather than discarding them.

e. i will plan my personal time more effectively. i haven't been as on top as i'd have liked to be on this brief, therefore my work doesn't feel as ordered as it was meant to be, and will be in the future.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:

5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor

Attendance 2
Punctuality 3
Motivation 2
Commitment 4
Quantity of work produced 3
Quality of work produced 4
